To the delight of some & dismay of others, Nicki Minaj got the honor of performing a medley of her hit singles during the introduction of the 2012 NBA All-Star Game players on Sunday.
Nicki got the audience on their feet by performing “Moment 4 Life” & “Turn Me On” before the West All-Star team was introduced, then she switched her wig from blue to green just in time to perform her latest single, “Starships”.
After the East All-Star team was introduced, Nicki re-emerged rocking pink hair to perform “Superbass”.
I want to root for Nicki so badly because of the hard work she has put in to make it this far, but her performances are often disappointing to me.
Last night the highly anticipated 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show aired to millions of fashion aficionados & eager men alike.
Celebrities such as Beyonce, Lala, Orlando Bloom, Maxwell & Russell Simmons sat in the audience & cheered the models along, while the VS Angels modeled sexy lingerie from the brand’s entire collection.
In the show’s final scene, the models strutted down the runway, donned Victoria’s Secret PINK collection & danced along while Nicki Minaj performed her massive hit, “Super Bass”.
It’s awesome to see how much Nicki has matured performance-wise over her career. It was also very funny to see how short she was in comparison to the models!
Kudos to Nicki Minaj! The sexy, Young Money rapper has just broken yet another record with her hit single, “Super Bass”.
Nicki Minaj’s “Super Bass” this week becomes the first song by a female hip hop artist to top the 3 million mark in digital sales. Minaj’s “Moment 4 Life” (featuring Drake) is next in line, with sales of 1,442,000 copies. Missy Elliott’s 2005 hit “Lose Control” (featuring Ciara and Fat Man Scoop) is in third place, with sales of 1,336,000. (Source)
This comes as no surprise, as Nicki first made hip hop history when “Super Bass” became the highest charted song by a female rapper on the popular Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
Nicki Minaj continues to expand her brand, from Young Money femcee to beauty maven.
After collaborating with MAC cosmetics to release the Pink Friday lipstick last year (which continuously sold out in stores across the country), it appears that Nicki is set release a line of nail polish in alliance with OPI.
Nicki Minaj’s OPI nail polish line is expected to hit stores by January 2012. The line is inclusive of bright, bold, neon colors inspired by titles of her hit singles, such as “Fly”, “Pink Friday”, “Super Bass” & “Did It On ‘Em”:
These look pretty hot! Will you be supporting her newest endeavor?
The first time I heard “Super Bass”, I was not thrilled, as it sounded atypical of the Nicki Minaj that I had grown accustomed to. However, her versatility has become one of the foremost factors in her success today. Needless to say, “Super Bass” finally grew on me — & many others as well.
According to Billboard, with [the single's] 4-3 rise on the Billboard Hot 100 chart last week (Aug. 13 chart date), the Young Money/Cash Money single became the highest-charting Hot 100 rap hit by a solo female (without the aid of a featured artist) since Missy Elliott’s “Work It” reached No. 2 in 2002. ‘Work’ spent 10 straight weeks stuck in the runner-up slot.
That makes “Super Bass” the highest charted song by a female rapper on the popular Billboard Hot 100 singles chart.
Never would have thought this gorgeous gal I used to watch rap via Youtube would make it to such a monumental level of fame. Kudos to Nicki!
