J. Cole has finally released the highly anticipated music video for his hit single “Nobody’s Perfect”, featuring Missy Elliott.
Though this song is one of my favorites at the moment, the video honestly disappointed me. “Nobody’s Perfect” gives listeners so many great lines from J.Cole, none of which are acted out in the music video. In my opinion, this is too great of a song for such a bland video.
Ten years after Aaliyah’s tragic death on August 25, 2001, BET honored the beautiful R&B singer with a tribute entitled “Aaliyah: One In A Million“, featuring commentary from her closest friends & family members.
The special also took us all back to some of the best hits of the 90’s by showcasing all of Aaliyah’s music videos from “Back & Forth” to “Are You That Somebody” to “We Need A Resolution” & many more.
In case you missed it, watch the tribute below, featuring commentary from Aaliyah’s celebrity cohorts; Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Ginuwine, Dame Dash, choreographer Fatima, Tank and Laurieann Gibson.
I thought this was a lovely way to remember Aaliyah as I was a huge fan of her work, her beauty & her style growing up. I remember exactly where I was when I learned of her passing & how my heart dropped upon hearing the news.
Not musically, of course, but in terms of the record that Michael Jackson currently holds for the most #1 singles from an album (eight singles to be exact).
According to Billboard, Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream album (which has already sold over 1.6 copies in the United States) has already boasted #1 singles ‘California Gurls’ (featuring Snoop Dogg), ‘Teenage Dream’, ‘Firework’ and ‘E.T.’ (featuring Kanye West).
As her single “E.T.” didn’t become a #1 single until she added Kanye West, she’s following a similar formula with the remix to her current #2 single “Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)” by adding Missy Elliott to the remix.
Take a listen below:
Do you think Katy Perry will score another #1 single with this remix? What’s more, do you think she’ll be able to top Michael Jackson’s record?
