Happy Black Friday!
Thanksgiving is always a grand occasion in my family, as relatives from all over the country travel to my grandparents’ home in rural North Carolina for an evening of food, fellowship and fun.
As I get older, my goal is to contribute more dishes to the annual meal and prove that my skills in the kitchen are just as thorough as those of my older family members. However, since I knew that nearly every meat on planet Earth (pork roast, baked chicken, fried chicken, roasted turkey, ham, turkey legs, the list goes on…) would be provided, in addition to sides such as mac & cheese, green beans, collard greens and the like, I stuck to starchy foods and desserts.
I decided to introduce my Boston Market-inspired cornbread to my extended family, and I’m happy to say that it was a hit! Click here for the recipe.
I also baked oversized snickerdoodle cookies. This entire plate disappeared — literally, I don’t know where the actual serving plate went.
But I was most excited to bring these pumpkin chocolate chip bars into the mix, especially because my family is a major proponent of the comparable sweet potato. Though they were pushed to the side by older family members for more traditional dessert fare, the younger generation came back for seconds, thirds and fourths! Needless to say, I’ll definitely be making these again. Check out the recipe below: Read more →

While I love NYX products for my lips and eyes, I adore MAC for giving my skin a flawless finish. That’s why I just can’t do without my MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Dark. Read more →
I love changing up my look, and I’m not ashamed to admit that hair extensions are a big part of my day-to-day beauty routine.
I’m often asked about my many hairstyles by friends, family and genuinely curious onlookers, so I thought it would be fitting to blog about one of my quickest hair fixes: a clip-in hairpiece.
After I learned how to make clip-in hair extensions last year, they immediately became my go-to for length and volume, especially when I wanted to give my hair a rest from sew-in weaves. But I eventually grew weary of the time-consuming process of putting in six to ten rows of clip-ins (depending on the style) to achieve a good-looking result. So, through some trial and error, I finally discovered a way to simplify the clip-in extension.

Inspired by my knack for retail therapy and the popularity of the ”real women” mannequins earlier this year, I thought it would be interesting to visually compare and contrast items of clothing on myself (a real woman) versus a mannequin.
Sure, mannequins are a crucial component of visual merchandising, but I’ve always wondered how accurately they showcase clothing for the everyday woman. Read more →
