Though Amy Winehouse passed away over a year ago, the singer was just recently put to rest.
According to Hollywood Rag, Amy Winehouse’s family said their final farewell yesterday as they buried her ashes. Amy passed away in July 2011 aged just 27 from alcohol poisoning and her ashes were set to rest in a Jewish ceremony in Edgware, North London. The memorial was attended by around 70 mourners & her ashes were committed to the ground accompanied by a black & pink headstone.
Last Friday would have been the singer’s 29th birthday. Her family spoke to fans on the Amy Winehouse Foundation website, saying:
“Today marks what would have been the 29th birthday of Amy Winehouse…Whilst the world continues to mourn the loss of a true superstar, her family – first and foremost – remember the daughter, niece and sister that is no longer with them.”
