
UPDATED: Despite speculation that copyright infringement claims by the government or 50 Cent (click HERE for that story, as well as his retraction) had something to do with the temporary closure of World Star, the site’s founder commented that it was shut down due to the influx of traffic.
All is well again with avid site goers, as it is back up & running…
To many, the site was their daily entertainment. So what happened? Why was the site taken down?
Here’s why:
Similar to it’s hip hop counterpart, OnSmash.com, WorldStarHipHop.com was seized by the federal government for copyright infringement.
These are only two (arguably two of the most popular) of many sites on the web directed to the young, urban demographic that have been shut down by Homeland Security until further notice.
I can’t say I didn’t see this coming. I guess we’ll see a resurgence in Youtube users for now…
