Once I learned of Wiz Khalifa’s visit to Charlotte, I knew that I had to take the opportunity to chat with the enterprising hip hop artist.
Though I am not an advocate for his infamous love of marijuana, I am a fan of his infectious lyricism and solid production. More than anything, I admire Wiz’s utilization of social media to effectively build his fan base and promote his music. After all, his grassroots campaign led to his most popular mixtape to date, Kush & Orange Juice, becoming a number one trending topic worldwide on Twitter.
After an energetic set, I had the opportunity to chat with Wiz about his fanbase, his sex symbol status and the single life. Despite interruptions from his adoring female fans — During the interview, one young lady held up a poster adorned with her name & cell number, to which he impolitely declined — our brief conversation was enlightening. Wiz even asked for a hug after we wrapped up =)
